Fancy Music

Looking forward to the release of Lana Del Rey's debut album on January 30, 2012.  She is definitely one to look out for.

Silence Is Golden

I've been meaning to blog about the movie "The Artist" for a while. I recently saw it and was completely blown away. I have to admit, when going into the film, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to sit through a movie without dialogue. I thought I might get a little bored or frustrated but "The Artist" held me the whole way through without a drop of boredom. It really takes you into another world and you forget that it's a silent film because you are so involved in the story. In no way am I even close to being any kind of film critic nor am I trying to be one but I just wanted to tell you that I LOVED this movie. Top 5 of 2012 for me for sure. So, if you've been on the fence about whether or not to see this movie, I highly suggest you treat yourself to a movie experience unlike any other.  This film is Fancy Affair approved!!!

Here's a clip of one of my favorite scenes from the movie.

Holiday Renegade Craft Fair

Last weekend I spent my Sunday at the Holiday Renegade Craft Fair. Although, I could feel myself getting sick while I was there, it was a great time as usual. The Holiday Renegade Craft Fair was smaller then the regular annual one but there was still a lot to see. I was excited to see and meet Alana Douvros there. I've been admiring her jewelry for a while now and it's even better in person. We hope to be working with her soon!

Here's a list of my purchases from some of my favorite Renegade vendors...

I'm always looking for good candles that can fill the room with scenty goodness! I bought one of Pommes Frites' soy candles in their "Kiss Me Under The Mistletoe" scent and I absolutely love it. It's making my apartment smell like a Christmas Tree lot as we speak! I will definitely be visiting their etsy store and ordering more candles from them.

I love all the stationary vendors but I especially loved this one. They had a really nice collection of stationary, stamps and gifts. I had a hard time deciding what stamp to get. I have to limit myself when i come to these fairs! We picked up some gifts from this booth and I will definitely be shopping their etsy store. I can't post the gifts that we got for obvious reasons but here's a couple things that are on my wishlist from Paper Pastries.

We got these awesome Christmas cards from her.  So cute!

Sadly, I can't find the name of the last vendor and it's unfortunate because I really love this one. There's isn't a logo or name on any of their products or packaging. Something they might consider doing in the future. Anyway, we purchased 2 awesome stamps from them!
*update! I found where i got these suckers.  Wanderlust

♥ ALIBI NYC ♥

This past weekend I checked out the Brooklyn Night Bazaar with some lovely girlfriends. It was a night filled with independent vendors, yummy food, music, photobooth memories, and beer! Yeah, we're classy ladies especially attending an event at a warehouse. . .in Williamsburg. It was actually really fun! I even had the pleasure of meeting Jo Liu, jewelry designer of ALIBI NYC! I was passing by one of the booths and saw some really cool jewelry and realized, "HEY! We carry these cool pieces!" It was a total special moment for me especially since it was the first time I was seeing ALIBI in person. It was totally a surprise since I had no idea she was going to have a booth set up there. Jo was so sweet. She's like that person you wanna be friends with because A.) She's totally nice and has live in NYC for 10 years now which makes her an official New Yorker, B.) She has some serious downtown chic style., and C.) She designs A-M-A-Z-I-N-G jewelry! Duh! We heart it!!!

I know Janel's favorite is the Generosity Pendant, but if I had to pick my favorite piece, it would probably be the Mini Skull Cuff. Scratch that, we kinda just love it all! Click here to see ALIBI on The Fancy Affair! We're looking forward to the New Year with more ALIBI jewelry to come for our site! You're going to LOVE it!

New FAVOR items coming soon to The Fancy Affair!

We are obsessed with Favor by Monika Reed. She designs and produces all of her jewelry in Portland, Oregon, to support the local economy. She uses natural gemstones and reclaimed, hypoallergenic, and nickel-free metals. Everything made of sterling silver and 14k yellow and rose gold are certified to be 100-percent recycled. Her 14k goldfill has verbal assurance that it is manufactured from post-consumer recycled metals.

Favor jewelry can be worn day to night, season to season, and year after year. Monika creates products that are not meant to be disposable and that will not enter the waste stream for generations, if ever.

The delicate, timeless, and sentimental jewelry is a personal favorite of ours at The Fancy Affair. We keep wanting more Favor pieces and we noticed you do too! So check out these two new pieces coming soon (yay! like next week soon) along with the ever so popular Bar Bracelet which will be back in stock in silver!

Fancy Obsession: Washi Tape

↑ This is how we washi ↑

Washi Tape (mt tape, mix tape, Japanese masking tape, whatever you may call it): is a high quality paper tape that comes in wide assortment of colors and pretty patterns. We have a little obsession with it at The Fancy Affair and we can't seem to stop buying rolls and rolls and rolls of it. They come on a roll like regular sticky tape, and is often translucent. You can tear it, stick it, reposition it, and write on it. The low tack adhesive makes it extremely easy to use and reuse. It works wonders for gift wrapping, labeling, card making, or even re-doing your apartment walls with Giant Washi Tape. The possibilities are endless when it comes to using these rolls of awesome-ness. The arts and craft world hit the jackpot when this stuff came out that's for sure! Like I said, we love it so much that we use it on our own gift packaging at The Fancy Affair!
