♥ NYC Recap ♥
Well we said we would take over NYC and we sure did! Our previous posts highlighted each day with photo collages. We were always on the go and the best way for us to remember our first TFA/NY trip together was to take the best photos from that day and blog them. It was a crazy busy and fun-filled 5 nights and 6 days of work and tons of play (I'm still recovering. yikes!). It's a magical thing to put two life long friends turned business partners in a city full of creative energy.
One day we attended Capsule which was totally amazing and right up our alley. It was our first show to attend since starting The Fancy Affair so naturally we were so excited. Tons of independent designers. We took notes of some new lines that definitely screamed FANCY and would make perfect additions to the site. We also met up with Jessica Goldfond of The Shiny Squirrel. She is the go-to-girl who represents the lines Species By The Thousands and Alibi. These lines never fail us. The new collections are amazing. So stay tuned, you'll want it!
Next stop, Coterie. Janel's first visit to a big show. A little overwhelming as usual, but a very entertaining atmosphere. We saw some beautiful lines, but they were a little more established for us. Though we can still appreciate some mainstream babbles, we stand behind our lovely independent designers and their handmade jewelry. We heart you!!!
The highlight of the NYC trip was meeting with two of our Fancy Favorite designers. First was Mai Yamazaki of I Am. Jewelry. We met up with her at The Full Circle, a skeeball bar in Williamsburg. It was pretty cool minus the no prize games of skeeball. We wanted prizes man! She is just like one of us. Sweet, funny, and easy going. We got a long really well and I think it's safe to say that we've become instant friends with Mai. We love you! News Alert: There will definitely be a I Am./The Fancy Affair exclusive in the near future!
Our final meeting was with Collette Ishiyama. We met her down in the LES. She was lovely, witty, and cool. Janel and I instantly fell in love. Collette's new collection ISIS is mind blowing. We want everything! Lions and serpents hand crafted with her signature stingray leather. You should see the muscles on her thumb! Talk about hard work, handmade, and dedication. She also has a men's line which is equally amazing to her women's collection. We hearts a lot!
Overall, I must say The Fancy Affair NYC trip was a success. We discovered some new designers and we met some pretty awesome people. Thank you NYC for inspiring us. You know we love you!
