Thank You, Collette Ishiyama!!!

We've been really lucky with the designers we have met along The Fancy Affair journey.  Collette Ishiyama is one of the designers we just can't get enough of and yesterday proved why we just love her even more.  TFA/CI similar loves:  cats, stripes, red lipstick, looking for cute animal videos on youtube, and of course, jewelry!

A studio, not too far from one of my favorite bars in the East Village called Elsa (she's a fan too!)  is where Collette Ishiyama designs and hand makes all her jewelry.  I was literally in awe of all the tools and the technique she uses to make all the jewelry.  She's like a one woman show!  Sketches, materials, a torch, lions, tigers, and Ponyo - her super cute cat and when I say cute, I mean so cute that I actually took more photos of the cat than anything else! Whoops!  Collette gave me a tutorial of how to solder.  (*Solder - is a fusible metal alloy used to join together metal workpieces and having a melting point below that of the workpiece.)  It was really interesting to see the process of how to solder the post to the earring.  Even if I tried to explain it right now, you'd all be really confused, but it was really cool and made me appreciate her work even more.  Check out some of the photos from the visit at the Collette Ishiyama studio!  And get ready because The Fancy Affair has some of her pieces coming real soon!  Thank you again Collette

eat//avocado toast

One of TFA's favorite food blogs is Organic Spark.  We're obsessed!  Everything always looks and sounds good and is pretty easy to make.  Today's snack includes two of our favorite things: avocados and sourdough toast!   Mmm. . . A simple, yet tasty snack!  So get ready for those healthy fats from the avocados to fill that belly for hours.  This is our idea of a yummy breakfast for those busy mornings!  Enjoy you fancy eaters!

Ingredients:
2 pieces authentic sourdough bread
pastured butter, softened
1 ripe avocado, pitted and diced
1 tbsp unrefined flax oil or extra virgin olive oil
sea salt & fresh cracked pepper

Instructions:
Toast the bread. Butter the top side of each piece. Distribute diced avocado evenly over the two pieces. Gently smash with a fork. Drizzle oil over the avocado on both pieces. Sprinkle with sea salt & fresh cracked pepper.

♥ Swooning For Seaworthy ♥

Marisa Howard of Seaworthy is this weeks fancy featured designer.  Based in Portland, Oregon, Seaworthy's super cool creator lives in what we think sounds like our kind of home sweet home, an orange Victorian house built in 1900.  With the love of a good cup of coffee, tiny succulents, doggies, and of course, jewelry, it's an obvious no brainer that The Fancy Affair and Seaworthy are a perfect match!

Marisa's jewelry collection began as a line of jewelry made from all vintage parts and has evolved to include a variety of handmade, mixed metal pieces.  She is inspired by simple geometric shapes and textile patterns from the 1930's.  She also finds inspiration from structural Art Deco designs to the personal style of her closest friends.  We love it!  Add the touch of Seaworthy to your current jewelry collection! ♥ Shop Seaworthy at The Fancy Affair now. ♥
